Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina FasoJonathan Formica is a multiple Emmy® nominated documentary filmmaker and producer whose work is dedicated to telling nuanced stories that engage, educate, and challenge audience perspectives. He has filmed across four continents and produced international shoots in Botswana, Burkina Faso, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Japan, Kenya, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom. Jonathan most recently produced two episodes of the docuseries SNL50: BEYOND SATURDAY NIGHT (2025 / PEACOCK) with Tremolo Productions, Broadway Video, and NBC Universal. With unprecedented access to Saturday Night Live’s archives and talent, each episode dives into a different aspect of the show’s storied fifty year history and what makes it work.
Jonathan previously produced WHAT’S NEXT: THE FUTURE WITH BILL GATES (2024 / NETFLIX) and co-produced the documentary feature HACK YOUR HEALTH: THE SECRETS OF YOUR GUT (2024 / NETFLIX). He started in the industry working with Vox Pop Films overseeing day to day operations, a diverse portfolio of commercial and branded-film, and produced the feature documentary, THE HUMAN TRIAL (2022 / ABRAMORAMA). Jonathan is currently working on a new untitled series for CNN, is a member of the Producers Guild of America (PGA) and Television Academy (ATAS).
